Thames Open Water Swim Series: Winners Announced

Created On: 16 January 2012

In celebration of the launch of F3's events a few weeks ago, they offered the opportunity to enter a competition for 10 swimmers to win individual entries to every swimming event in 2012.

All the winners have been emailed to let them know, and we look forward to hearing how their preparation for the events goes over the coming months, as we all get closer to the 2012 open water swimming season and one of the biggest summers the UK has ever seen in sport.

F3's Open Water Swim Series kicks off with an earlier  Royal Windsor Swim on Sunday May 20th whereby participants can choose from a 950m, 1.9km and 3.8km distance to take part in.

On Saturday July 14th the 3rd Annual Marlow River Swim takes place on the banks of the river Thames, where David Walliams witnessed some of the largest supporting crowds in his river Thames swim in 2011. With a 750m, 1.5km and 3km distance to choose from, it really provides an opportunity for anyone to try these distances and swim safely along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Berkshire / Buckinghamshire countryside.

The third event in the series takes place on Saturday August 18th at Henley on Thames, Shiplake College. With a 6pm start, this event had the best feedback from all of the events in 2011, as the weather was just perfect with an amazing backdrop for all participants and spectators to see.

The final event for 2012 will be the Open Water Swim Challenge at Bray Lake Watersports. It will host the final official 10km open water swim of the season with distances changing slightly with a 1km, 2km, 4km, 5km and 10km to choose from.

For those of you that did not win a place, there are still places available. Nearly 500 of you have already entered an open water swimming event of some sort with F3 Events.
