Real Life Triathlon: Kim Cotton on her road to Henley (Part 3)

Kim Cotton, one of the winners of a free place at this years Challenge Henley (3.8km swim, 180km bike and a 42km run) has sent us her latest update on her progress on her road to Henley…
Training has been a little hampered over the Easter school holidays - I started work! Was quite interesting having to cycle 10m a day from the day after I did the Brighton marathon, but it seems to have helped the recovery, and I had very little in the way of aches and pains.Took a while to get over the tiredness though.
Brighton was very different this year compared to last year. Last year training had gone well and I scored a massive pb. This year I was getting over a knee problem and had missed a couple of weeks training. I was still on for another pb up until 23 miles when the sun and the knee both got to me. The last 3 miles were a mix of fast walking, slow running, and hobbling, but I was very pleased with successfully changing marathon race tactics from structured run/walk to only walk through the aid stations
So the bike training has got underway and I'm starting to see an improvement already, just need to start upping the distance now and organise my time to fit round the job and kids. Have also decided to do Henley for The Stroke Association, along with the other events I have planned for the rest of the year. People can sponsor me at www.justgiving.com/kim-cotton.
Next up is the Ridgeway 40, a 40m walk along the Ridgeway Path, on 7th May. Followed by the South Downs Marathon in June.
