Celebrate the Royal Wedding with the Royal 5K

Runners and walkers on the South Coast will be marking the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton on 29th April 2011 by taking part in the Royal 5km fun run.
The event, supported by TL Sport and Bexhill Runners, is aimed at all runners and walkers alike, and will have a real fun factor with competitors encouraged to don fancy dress in a Royal theme. Participants can let their imagination run riot, and there will be prizes for the best fancy dress.
Those taking part will also be raising money for The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, which helps young people who are disadvantaged or in need of guidance, Armed Forces personnel who have been injured while in theatre, and their families, and the environment.
The event starts at 11am, and those taking part should finish in plenty of time to watch the Royal Wedding on the big screen which will be provided at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, and take part in the street party - just one of many events likely to happen around the country.
Fans of commemorative aprons, t-shirts and tea towels will not be disappointed for this Royal Wedding, as the ban has been lifted by the Palace. The Royal 5K will not only give you a memorable experience to mark the occasion, it will also provide a themed medal for all finishers - far better than any tea towel - and a finisher's t-shirt.
If weddings are not your thing, why not come and run anyway? It would be a great reason to get out of the house and start the day with some exercise while putting something towards a good cause.
The race HQ will be at the De La Warr pavilion, Bexhill and competitors will have a clear run as the road will be closed for the event, with the action starting at 10am.
Paul Holdaway, Race Director, TL Sports Events, who is organising the run, said: "We are excited about the forthcoming Royal wedding, and we wanted to celebrate in the best way we know how. A fun run raising money for The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry seemed a perfect fit to us."
Online entry is open now and you can run for just £15 if you are a member of an affiliated club or £17 for non-affiliated runners.
