The Castle Triathlon Series 2010

Created On: 01 April 2010

Hot off the success of the Hever Castle Triathlon held on Sunday 27th September 2009 TRIATHLETES of all abilities are encouraged to sign up for one of the most picturesque series of races on offer in England and France in 2010 - registration for the inaugural Castle Triathlon Series is now open!

The Castle Triathlon Series consists of four races throughout the summer, providing an open platform for triathletes of all abilities to compete nationally. It is simple to get involved, you can enter as many of the races as you choose or take on the whole series.

The Series will take in the following premium venues and dates:

26-27 June 2010                     Race 1 - Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire

24-25 July 2010                      Race 2 - Castle Howard, N Yorks

28-29 August 2010                  Race 3 - Chateau Chantilly, Picardie, N France

25-26 Sept 2010                     Race 4 - Hever Castle, Kent

Each of the four races offer open water swims in the stunning Castle and Chateau lakes, the cycle for the two longer adult races (children's cycle phases will take place on the estates on mountain bikes) will take place around 20km circuits in the surrounding countryside and finally the runs will circumnavigate the estates and the award winning gardens for a challenging but beautiful final leg of each of the triathlons.  Variants of the Olympic and Sprint distances the swims have been shortened to account for the open water availability at the venues and the cycles and runs simply laid out to fit the surrounding countryside road networks and routes around the estates.

The organisers, who have a background in delivery of live outdoor family focussed events (from elite sport to entertainment) are keen to create a unique triathlon experience. They hope to fuse the best of sports event delivery and live entertainment to produce a high class, family friendly weekend long festival of triathlon at each of the stunning venues.

To qualify for the Series and be eligible to win prize money from a £5,000 pot, triathlete's three best results count across any three races. Of course doing all four enables you to take forward your three best placings, maximising your Series points. At each race all competitors are eligible to win Sponsor prizes and medals.

Sponsored by Zoggs, Multipower, CherryActive, Synthetix and Bulk SMS the triathlon aims to set the bar for a family sports event combining excellent logistics, organisation and cutting edge race technology, an eye for detail and empathy for these historic venues.

The Castle Triathlon Series, with two of its Directors being ex Royal Marines, are also committed to assisting Help for Heroes a national charity providing help and services to wounded soldiers. The charity will benefit from the race with 10% of profits being donated by the organisers, along with additional "on-the-day" fundraising activities. The charity will also be the main beneficiary of personal giving / sponsorship via the online entry system.
