Count down to the fourth iconic Hever Castle Triathlon
Created On: 20 September 2012
With less than two weeks to the fourth iconic Hever Castle
Triathlon, 3,500 are registered, and preparations are in place for
the weekend event (29/30 September) with sign ups still coming in
thick and fast. This year sees figures increase twenty five per
cent from last year and the largest pool of children and elites
taking part to date. With over 70 family groups competing, an
inter-schools tournament, women's only wave, charity challenge
relay races and elites battling it out for the series winning
trophies there is a race* for everyone:
Elites promise speed - This year will welcome a huge amount of
elite triathletes competing to win the series trophies and break
record times. The 2011 Castle Triathlon Series winner, Mark
Threlfall, will be joined by peer, Rhys Davey. Davey from the
World Challenger Triathlon club has experienced a stunning year
having competed in Banyoles World Cup and World University
Championships in Taiwan.
Catherine Jameson from GI Tri Bridgtown is the favourite to win
the female series prize having won the Castle Howard and Chateau de
Chantilly Triathlons earlier this year.
The Charity Challenge: Title sponsor, Markel Insurance, has
launched a Charity Challenge giving teams taking part in the
mid-distance race the chance to win a £5,000 charity prize. And the
winners will not go away empty-handed either, as each team member
will collect the latest iPad.
Spectators have fun: This year there is even more planned for
spectators coming along to Hever Castle to support their family and
friends. Together with plenty of cheering they can enjoy live
music, hot air balloon rides, archery and discounted entry in to
the stunning castle grounds. Hever Castle, the childhood home of
Anne Boleyn, offers loads to do for all the family including a
water maze, adventure playground and stunning gardens.
The Hever Castle race is part of the Markel Insurance Castle
Triathlon Series which includes five exciting weekend events over
the summer. Each race offers a high quality, competitive and safe
race set in beautiful grounds and truly spectacular surroundings.
Very few races in the country offer such a stunning and
inspirational race setting.
