Around the World to London 2012

World Triathlon Champion Helen Jenkins today toured the familiar sights of Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace that will witness Helen's attempt to win a Gold Medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games. Jenkins has flown around the world with British Airways to find the ideal training and racing regime so she is ready to tackle the Olympic course in London this August.
Jenkins looked round the course, which is a favourite destination for tourists, in more comfort than usual using various modes of transport including a boat on the Serpentine and a London taxi. The two-time World Champion, who has experienced victory in Hyde Park, is hoping to add an Olympic title to her name and believes her international training and competing schedule is the perfect balance to put her in poll position.
Helen Jenkins said, "Although this is a home Games athletes need to fly around the world to find the best training and competition environments to suit them, for instance next month I'm flying to Sydney. So in fact I've taken a very long journey across thousands of miles to get to London and I'm grateful to the support from British Airways who have flown me to so many places."

"It's nice to be here in Hyde Park today as the end of my journey to London 2012 nears and this beautiful location with so many famous sights will transform into what will be an amazing display of sport in the capital."
British Airways is the official airline partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and is dedicated to helping British talent fly. As part of its ongoing commitment and support of British athletes, including Helen Jenkins, Team GB and ParalympicsGB and sporting bodies the airline also supports a number of athletes through a UK Sport partnership.
Luisa Fernandez, British Airways sponsorship manager, said: "It's a fantastic feeling to know that our support helps the athletes as they dedicate themselves to performing on the biggest stage at London 2012. The Triathlon course set in the heart of the capital, surrounded by famous London landmarks, will form part of the biggest cultural and sporting event of our lives. We're proud to support Helen on her journey."
