SwimFesT Series Race Report
Created On: 21 July 2011
The second event in the 2011 SwimFesT Series took place at
Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex on 17 July with record numbers and
a bit of luck with the weekend's unpredictable British weather
holding off during the entire race programme.
Winners of the four race distances were Evangeline Foster in the
750m; Jack Peasgood, only one second ahead of Armanni Antoine
Chargar in the 1500m; Matt Molloy in the 3.8K; and Simon Emm in the
5K. Full results including split times are available at www.swimfortri.com.
"I really enjoyed SwimFesT. It was a lot of fun with a good
turnout of competitors and spectators and I'll be back for more in
September" said Kate McNeill, Public Relations Manager for the
events sponsorship partner Decathlon. Kate was using the race as
part of her preparations for the Outlaw Triathlon this weekend and
competed in the 1500m race, finishing second in her age group.
SwimFesTs reputation for quality and value for money continues
to grow and bookings for the final event in the Series on 18
September are well ahead of last year. With the addition of sprint
relay races for teams of allcomers, which is attracting a lot of
interest, it is promising to be a grand finale to the open water
season.
Race Director Mike Porter from Triathlon Racing Inc, who
organises the series with coaching specialists SwimforTri, was
delighted with Sunday's event. "Feedback has been excellent
but we continue to look at ways to improve and make this as close
to an elite race as possible" he said.
SwimFesT, the spectator-friendly open water race series, is
hosted by Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex, and sponsored by
Decathlon - the world's biggest sports retail chain supplying
equipment and clothing for over 70 different sports, and sports
nutrition specialists Powerbar.
