British Aquathlon Championships this weekend

Created On: 29 July 2011

The 2011 British Triathlon Aquathlon Championships take place on Saturday 30 July  2011, and will see over 125 competitors racing to win the coveted Age Group British Championships at Littlehampton Marina in West Sussex.

The event is the sixth of eight British Championships in 2011, and will see competing aquathletes embark on a challenging 750m swim in the River Arun. The prospect of a river swim introduces a number of challenges for the competitors, especially as the River Arun is Britain's second fastest flowing river.

The preceding 5km run, is a flat out and back course, which will provide the perfect setting for quick run times as athletes race through the farmland surrounding the venue.

Mick Dicker, the event organiser from Raw Energy Pursuits is proud to be delivering the British Championships commenting: "As an event organiser it's always great recognition to be awarded a British Championship and shows your events are delivering high quality experiences for the athletes.

"The course at Littlehampton Marina is fantastic for spectators, the whole swim, transition and finish all being visible from river bank proving a great opportunity to cheer on your friends and family as they race for the coveted titles."

Ian Braid, British Triathlon Director for Major Events, is looking forward to the event adding: "The British Aquathlon Championships are an important part of British Triathlon's Major Events calendar, providing the perfect platform for our Age Group athletes to achieve their personal triathlon challenges. To take part in any of our British Championships is always an exciting occasion for any athlete, and the standard of racing is always extremely high."

The event is being organised by Raw Energy Pursuits, with more information available on www.rawenergypursuits.co.uk.
