Big Cow to host British Middle Distance Champs
Created On: 02 July 2011
The 2011 British Triathlon Middle Distance Championships take
place on Sunday 3 July 2011, and will see over 750 competitors
racing to win the coveted Age Group British Championships at the
Cowman Triathlon in Milton Keynes.
The event is the fifth of eight British Championships in 2011
and will see triathletes race in the undulating Buckinghamshire
scenery.
The race begins with a 1,900m swim in the boating lake of
Emberton Country Park, before a 92km bike course through undulating
countryside that will ensure there is little rest for competitors.
The final 21km run involves a four-lap course that takes
competitors outside of the park.
Nigel Woods, the event organiser is proud to be
delivering the British Championships commenting: "As an event
organiser it's always great recognition to be awarded a British
Championship and shows your events are delivering high quality
experiences for the athletes.
"The course in Emberton Country Park is fantastic for
spectators, the whole swim being visible from the transition area
and the bike and run courses both looping through transition,
proving a great opportunity to cheer on your friends and family as
they race for the coveted titles."
Ian Braid, British Triathlon Director for
Major Events, is looking forward to the event commenting: "The
British Middle Distance Championships are an important part of
British Triathlon's Major Events calendar, providing the perfect
platform for our Age Group athletes to achieve their personal
triathlon challenges. To take part in any of our British
Championships is always an exciting occasion for any athlete, and
the standard of racing is always extremely high."
The event is being organised by Big Cow Events, with more
